Summary of the Invention
| The first
objective of the Laser-Cam is to provide a device to allow a
remotely located instructor to point to items within a viewing field of a
camera located onsite so that an associate can get instruction from the
remotely located instructor. The second objective of the Laser-Cam is to provide an instructor the ability to operate a laser pointer at a remote site with a computer controlled mouse. The third objective of the Laser-Cam is to provide a device that uses telephone lines or wireless communications to remotely instruct an associate with a laser pointer. The fourth objective of the Laser-Cam is to provide a remotely operable laser pointer that allows one instructor to give direction to several distant sites simultaneously or consecutively. The Laser-Cam is a device which allows an operator to control, by a personal computer, the direction in which a laser pointer is being pointed at a remote site where it can be seen by the remote person (the associate). This invention can be used along with already existing technology such as video and audio telephony. The invention has the ability to not only see and hear the remote party which you are talking to, but is also able to switch on a laser and point to items within the viewing field of the remote camera. This greatly increases communications for both parties involved. The Laser-Cam has applicability in the service industry with servicemen/technicians working, for example, on heating and air conditioning equipment. Normally a serviceman/technician is sent to a job site. With the Laser-Cam, they can go online with their office when problems arise with the equipment/machinery that is being worked on. A more qualified technician/instructor can help the onsite serviceman through the dilemma with the Laser-Cam saving the company valuable time and money. Further advantages of the Laser-Cam, over and above a presently preferred embodiment, are apparent from the following detailed description, which is illustrated schematically in the accompanying drawings. |
